Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, minor ailment clinics and carry out cervical smears.
Annmarie and Niki oversee baby immunisations, heart disease prevention, asthma/COPD, diabetes, sexual health clinics and cervical cytology clinics.
Please note that women aged 25-49 years should have a smear test every 3 years and women aged 49-64 every 5 years.
We are also pleased to announce that we have appointed a new Practice Nurse, Emma, who will be joining us in July 2018 (more details to be confirmed shortly).
Our Health Care Assistants (HCAs) are both qualified to take blood for analysis including INR; blood pressure readings; dressings; suture removal; NHS Health Checks; onward referral for weight management and smoking cessation. You can make an appointment via the Receptionist to see them.
The day to day, and strategic management of the Practice is organised for us by our Practice Manager. She will be pleased to help you with any problems you may have.
Steph Pearce provides full secretarial support to the Doctors, typing referral letters and dealing with any queries. Judith works part time on a Tuesday and Thursday. Jess Hazell also supports the Doctors, with clinical administration as well as summarising notes.
Our Reception team are often your first point of contact with our practice. They carry out a varied range of tasks and are constantly busy, trying to ensure a smooth service for our many patients. Their daily roles involve making appointments either face-to-face with patients in the surgery, or over the phone; registering new patients; scanning hospital letters; receiving samples and handing out repeat prescriptions. Their role is to make appointments for our surgeries and clinics, manage recalls and deal with requests for visits and repeat prescriptions.
