Important Information regarding Staff Changes

Staff Changes – March 2018

We think it’s important to keep all our patients informed about plans being made now for staff changes which will be happening in Spring next year and plans in place to ensure our patients continue to receive timely, high quality care.

Dr Simon Higgs will be retiring at the end of a very impressive 32 years here at Marybrook. He has been a GP for 34 years and is very much looking forward to putting his feet up and enjoying time with the family. Dr Higgs will however be available as locum cover during the transition period to allow the new GPs to settle in.

Dr Sarah Corston will also be leaving us as her husband Niall will be retiring as a Consultant Surgeon after 40 years and Sarah would understandably like to spend more time with him and her 4 children. Dr Corston has been a GP for 25 years, 10 of which have been at Marybrook. Despite reaching retirement age Dr Corston is not ready to give up medicine entirely so will continue as a GP locum covering at the practices in the Berkeley Vale locality. We may even see her back at Marybrook on some occasions.

Dr Raj Basu will sadly also be leaving us but to go much further afield. He is currently making plans to move closer to his extended family in the North West and to pursue other professional opportunities.

Dr Peadar Walshe will be taking the reins as senior partner on the 1st April 2018 after 23 years at Marybrook Medical Centre.

The process for recruiting high quality able replacements is already well under way and Dr Walshe is confident that with the support of the current partners there will be a seamless transition to the new team.

We would like to reassure all our patients that we will continue to provide the high quality care that they have come to expect throughout the process of these changes.

We are working closely with our Patient Participation Group (PPG) and will continue to keep you updated as we have more accurate dates and information.

The departing partners would like to thank those who have already begun to say kind words and to send lovely messages.
